| Marketing Your Music - Quick discussion on Breakeven.
To figure out how many CDs you need to sell to break even, use this
equation: Total Cost of CDs / Price of CD's
For example, if you produce 100 CDs at $3 each, your total cost is $300.
If you sell your CDs to your fans at $8 each, the number of CDs you need
to sell to make your money back is (100*3)/8 = 37.5.
Here are some breakeven points for various CD quantities, prices, and
costs. You can use this table to help you decide how many CD's you want
to produce and what you should charge to sell them based on your costs
and available funds.
